Team EXCEED in collaboration with the Department of Labor’s Job Corps Initiative –  Youth 2 Youth (Y2Y): Partners for Peace, hosted visiting Job Corps students from the Chicago and San Francisco Regions at the Potomac Job Corps Center in Washington, D.C. during the week of September 18th, 2017.   While the visiting Y2Y Student Ambassadors attended sessions at the Department of Labor, Potomac Job Corps students created an anti-violence banner and a peace handprint tree to demonstrate their commitment to promoting peace.  The week was filled with such activities as group discussions on cyber/anti-bullying, gang awareness, diversity, and suicide prevention.  On Thursday, September 21st,  the students participated in a commemorative peace walk to celebrate “International Day of Peace”.   The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly and in 2001, the General Assembly unanimously voted to designate the Day as a period of non-violence and cease-fire around the world.
